Ariba Configuration Review & Integration Architecture
The client's SAP Ariba account configuration was reviewed, EDI transaction requirements for each document type were documented, and the Azure Function architecture was designed to handle inbound order processing and outbound ASN, invoice, and confirmation payloads.
Azure Function & Power Automate Build
Azure Functions were built for each document type, handling payload construction, authentication, and outbound submission to the Ariba Network. Power Automate flows orchestrated the trigger-to-function-to-response cycle.
Payload Testing & Ariba Connection Center Validation
Payloads were tested against the Ariba Connection Center transaction history, with each error response analyzed and resolved. Authentication flows, payload structure, and timing issues were addressed through iterative testing.
Transaction Logging, Retry Logic & Error Routing
Transaction logging was implemented to record each document exchange with status, timestamp, and error detail. Retry logic was added for transient failures, and alert routing was configured for persistent exceptions.
Production Deployment & Operations Handover
The integration was moved to production with live transaction validation, and the operations team received documentation covering the solution architecture, expected transaction flows, and escalation procedures.

The Impact
The distributor eliminated the manual document exchange process that had been creating fulfillment delays and compliance exposure with their enterprise buyer. ASNs, invoices, and order confirmations now flow automatically through the Ariba integration without staff involvement. Transaction failures surface in the error log rather than as missed documents, and the operations team has clear escalation procedures for any exceptions.
